Surgery knocks out Stoudemire
Amar'e Stoudemire, PF, NY
10/30/2012
News: New York forward Amar'e Stoudemire will have knee surgery and is expected to miss the next six to eight weeks, the team announced Tuesday. Stoudemire will undergo a debridement for his troublesome left knee, which is the removal of tissue. The procedure means he could miss more than twice as long as the Knicks originally estimated when he was hurt during the preseason. Stoudemire played in one preseason game but was bothered again by knee pain, and the Knicks said he had a ruptured cyst that would sideline him two to three weeks.
Analysis: Well, it appears the Knicks were just a little off with their timetable for Stoudemire. The surgery announcement is just the latest blow for the 29-year-old, who struggled through an injury-filled 2011-12 season, though none of his problems were with his surgically repaired knee. New York already set a contingency plan to deal with Stoudemire's absence and Carmelo Anthony will likely serve as the power forward. Unfortunately for Fantasy owners, they are left scrambling for replacements as Stoudemire is out until at least December. Despite the delay for his season debut, he's still worth stashing in all formats.
