www.sportsmanagementworldwide.com Llaneza said United had declared its interest last week in the Brazilian-born Senna, who appeared for Spain in the World Cup after obtaining dual citizenship earlier this year.
The 30-year-old, who played against United in last season's Champions League, has helped Villarreal become one of Spain's best teams since arriving from Brazil's Sao Caetano in 2002.
Llaneza said it wouldn't be a problem for Villarreal if Senna's prospected move fell through.
"I'm very sure if Marcos stayed he would continue to give his all for us,'' he said.
Senna would be United's second midfield signing of the offseason following the recent arrival of England international Michael Carrick from Tottenham.
The two-time European champion recently raised a reported ?15 million (US$19.3 million) from the sale of Ruud van Nistelrooy to Real Madrid.
