“He [Canales] is a player I like a lot and I hope he continues with the same mentality he has had up until now and that he doesn’t read all the papers that speak so highly of him. He is still a kid and that can affect one’s psyche. If nothing changes he will have a lot of minutes,” Mourinho beamed.
“Oezil is comparable to Sergio Canales, but they are also distinct players," Mou added.
"With Kaka’s injury we wanted more at the position and both Sergio and Oezil are going to play a lot. For Werder Bremen, he [Oezil] initially played along the left wing.
"When Diego left for Juventus, he played in the centre just behind the strikers. For Germany, he played in a completely different manner. He can play even further back in the midfield if need be. It is my obligation that both he and Canales do not limit one another’s development. I need to help them both realize their full potential.”
