Barely had to touch the ball all game, he might as well have gone forward and shown the forwards how it should be done before the break. Some crunching tackling and solid defending from him in the second half.
Ricardo Carvalho 8.0
Rock-solid all night, clean in the tackle and well-positioned, occasionally bailed Marcelo out of trouble. Scored the winning goal on the night.

Too adventurous going forward and was troubled by Juanfran in the first half, but improved on his defending after the break.

Full of running today and, as usual, his passing was slick and precise.
Sami Khedira 7.5
He is known for his great stamina and lived up to the expectations as he bossed the midfield together with Xabi Alonso. Released Mesut Oezil with a delightful long pass in the build-up to the opener.
Karim Benzema 6.0
Wasteful in possession and aside from the good pass for Higuain in the 18th minute his contribution was non-existent.
Mesut Özil 8.0
Kaka should be worried about his place in the team as the young German international delivered an outstanding performance tonight, creating numerous chances throughout the match and playing a major role in the goal.
Cristiano Ronaldo Flop of the Match 7.0
Wasteful in front of goal and from set-pieces, and could have received a six, had it not been for his assist for the goal. Showed some good touches, though, with the highlight being a marvellous backheel in the 55th minute.
Gonzalo Gerardo Higuaín 5.5
Wasted two clear chances in the first half and two more in the second half. All in all, a disappointing evening for the Argentinian striker.
