Real Madrid have revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricardo Carvalho suffered injuries during their 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid in El Derbi Madrileno on Saturday evening.
Both Ronaldo and Carvalho started the Spanish Primera Division encounter between the two sides at the Calderon and while the former was substituted by coach Jose Mourinho after 72 minutes, his Portuguese international team-mate carried on for the whole 90 minutes.
However, Madrid have now revealed that Ronaldo, who has only recently returned from a hamstring problem, and Carvalho sustained injuries during the match and have added that the duo will be further evaluated.
"Cristiano Ronaldo felt pain and had inflammation on the biceps femoris of his left thigh after the match with Atleitco," read a statement on the club's official website.
"Ricardo Carvalho bruised his lower back and suffered from a contracture on his right hamstring muscles during the game. Both players will be examined to determine the seriousness of their injuries."
Ronaldo himself admitted after the match he had picked up a knock and said: "I'm not 100 per cent fit and it was a difficult game for me. Those who know me could tell I wasn't myself during the match, especially in the second half.
"I think I've got an injury of some sort. We'll see what shows up in the scan."
The victory over city rivals Atletico mean that Madrid remain five points behind league leaders Barcelona in second place after 29 rounds of the matches.
