Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho hit out at his Barcelona counterpart Pep Guardiola ahead of the heavyweight tilt at the Bernabeu.

Mourinho’s men will take on the Spanish champions in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday and the Portuguese tactician has fanned the flames ahead of the crunch clash.

Mourinho commentated that Guardiola belongs to a new group of coaches who complain about the referee making the correct decisions in big matches.

"I don't want mistakes to go in our favour, but hope that both teams are happy after the game," he said.

"However, it's not possible for Pep to be happy. The referee must be wrong. Guardiola's comments see us move into a new era where coaches criticise the correct decisions of the referee," he said, referring to Pedro's goal that was correctly ruled out for offside in the Copa del Rey.

"This is the first time I have see something like this. When I complain about referees I do it honestly, and if he makes the right calls I will say that without problems.

"We have to play to the maximum. It's not about the referee.”
