Hoffenheim striker could move to Ewood Park

Blackburn Rovers have been officially allowed to talk to Hoffenheim striker Vedad Ibisevic.

The German club have confirmed that the Bosnia international is in negotiations with Rovers over a potential switch to Ewood Park this summer but insist that a transfer fee has yet to be agreed upon.

"Blackburn Rovers are keen on Vedad Ibisevic, the chances to see him move are fifty-fifty," Hoffenheim general manager Ernst Tanner told reporters.

"We have still to agree a transfer fee, anyway they have been asking us on the allowance to pick up contract negotiations with the player."

Ibisevic is currently tied to Hoffenheim until June 2013 and there are reports in the German media that they will sell him to Blackburn for £3.5million.

The 26-year-old scored eight goals for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga last season.

Spaniard flies in for medical at White Hart Lane

Tottenham are reportedly poised to sign highly-rated Juventus winger Iago Falque on loan.

Reports in Spain claim Falque is due in London to undergo a medical before sealing a season-long move to White Hart Lane.

Juventus have only allowed the loan move to go through after agreeing a new deal with the Spaniard which will see the player contracted to the Italian giants until 2014.

Spurs were keen on signing the Spain Under 21 international on a permanent basis, but Juve were not willing to sell the talented attacker.

Falque is highly-regarded at Juventus, but the 21-year-old is well down the pecking order at the Turin club and he spent last season on loan at Villarreal B.

A number of Spanish clubs including Rayo Vallecano, Celta Vigo and Levante all expressed an interest in signing Falque this summer, but the player has decided to move to Tottenham.

Falque's father has confirmed his son is relishing the challenge of joining Tottenham for the 2011/12 season.

"Iago loves big challenges and this with Spurs is very important," said Falque Snr.

"It will be hard, but he will fight for his place."

Defender Erik Pieters will leave PSV Eindhoven for Newcastle United in the coming days, according to his agent Piet van der Pol.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to St James' Park during this summer's transfer window and is earmarked to replace Jose Enrique, who left for Liverpool earlier this month.

"Newcastle's interest is very serious and Erik finds the club a real challenge," Van der Pol told the Dutch media.

"I don't know the exact numbers of Newcastle's offer, but I'm pretty sure that the transfer will go ahead."

Pieters, a Dutch international, has been with PSV since 2008 and has established himself as one of the better players in his position in the Eredivisie.

Freiburg chairman Fritz Keller has confirmed three foreign clubs have tabled bids for in-demand striker Papiss Demba Cisse.

The Senegal international has been linked with the likes of Blackburn, Sunderland and Fulham, who all play in the Premier League.

Freiburg are believed to want in the region of £13.5million for the 26-year-old who is under contract until June 2014.

Cisse has also bagged four goals in just three appearances for Freiburg this season while he has 32 in 18 months with the Bundesliga side.

Keller insists the club are going to study the offers carefully, stating they are not necessarily going to sell simply because offers are in.

Offers

"We have received three concrete offers for the services of Papiss Demba Cisse," Keller told Deutsche Presseagentur.

"All three are from clubs in foreign leagues.

"We are going to consider these offers calmly, but this doesn't necessarily mean we are definitely going to sell him."

Cisse's agent Guido Nickolay told BILD: "I'm actually on a journey abroad. In this case I am looking into everything and I hope that in the end every party involved is satisfied."

Diarra cools Spurs talk
Midfielder planning on Madrid stay

Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra has played down rumours he is set to join Tottenham by insisting he expects to stay in Spain.

The 26-year-old former Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth star has been linked with a switch to Spurs all summer and a reunion with his former boss at Pompey Harry Redknapp.

Reports had earlier suggested that the White Hart Lane outfit were closing in on a ?12million (£10.6million) deal for the defensive midfielder.

However, when quizzed on the issue Diarra denied he was set to leave the Spanish capital and stated his belief that his future still lay at the Bernabéu.

"The information about my departure is a lie," he told AS.

"There is no agreement from Tottenham and I do not think there will be."

PSV Eindhoven defender Erik Pieters is on the brink of completing a move to Newcastle United, according to his agent.

Netherlands international Pieters, 23, is the man Alan Pardew has earmarked to fill the left-back position following the departure of Jose Enrique to Liverpool, and he is expected to cost in the region of £6.5 million.

The two clubs have struggled to see eye-to-eye over a fee since talks began, but agent Piet van der Pol has revealed a deal is close.

"Newcastle's interest is very serious and Erik finds the club a real challenge," Van der Pol said. "I don't know the exact numbers of Newcastle's offer, but I'm pretty sure that the transfer will go ahead."

Pieters joined PSV Eindhoven from Utrecht in 2008 for around £2 million, and established himself as a first-choice for the national team following the retirement of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Chelsea in for Porto defender, but Villas-Boas is not confident

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that the Blues have lodged a sizeable bid for Porto full-back Alvaro Pereira.

The Uruguay international has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge over the last few weeks, as the transfer window ticks down, and Sky Sports reported on Tuesday that an approach had been made.

He is not the first Porto player reported to be on Chelsea's radar, with a number of their star men said to be in Villas-Boas' thoughts.

He left the Portuguese champions for England earlier in the summer and was expected to raid his former employers for their most prized assets.

Numbers

No deals have materialised as yet, but Pereira is now firmly in Chelsea's sights.

An offer has been put to Porto for the 25-year-old, but Villas-Boas claims he is less than optimistic regarding his chances of reaching an agreement.

"The only thing I can confirm to you is that we have made a bid for him and we

are very far apart in terms of numbers," said the Portuguese coach.

When asked if he was confident a deal could be done, he added: "Not very confident."

Weiss' Dynamo move off
City winger opts against move to Ukraine club

Manchester City winger Vladimir Weiss has confirmed that he will not be joining Ukraine outfit Dynamo Kiev.

The Slovakia international was being tipped to join Kiev, but he insists the clubs have not agreed anything.

Weiss recently revealed Wigan and Spanish sides were tracking him and he now says a better offer has come in.

However, the 21-year-old is staying quiet on his possible destination stating the move is preferred due to the 'football' aspect.

Option

"It's definite - I'm not going to Dynamo Kiev as this option has come to nothing," he told denniksport.sk.

"We've not reached an agreement and, moreover, I've received a better offer from a different club.

"This is an excellent option to go out on loan elsewhere so I'll be trying to leave Manchester City.

"If this alternative, however, falls through, I don't know what I'll do. I firmly believe all will turn out for the good.

"I cannot reveal the name or the country of the team even though it is possible that you will learn it soon.

"I can reveal is it's a better option than Dynamo from the football aspect while it is exactly the opposite financially.

"At my age I'm mostly looking for a club that suits me in terms of football. I would be very satisfied in the club which is currently trying to sign me, otherwise I wouldn't have turned down the Dynamo offer."

Barton still undecided
Magpies midfielder admits no deal in place with QPR as yet

Joey Barton is close to completing a medical at Queens Park Rangers but admits he has not yet made up his mind where his future will lie.

The midfielder has fallen under the spotlight this summer after it emerged that Newcastle would not be offering him a contract extension.

With his current deal set to expire in 2012, it was expected that he would be moved on.

Barton, though, has maintained that he is happy at St James' Park and has no desire to leave.

He has started the season in Alan Pardew's plans, but Newcastle have refused to waver in their stance regarding a new deal.

With Barton still up for grabs, QPR boss Neil Warnock has made a move to take the 28-year-old to Loftus Road.

Ambition

The one-cap England international is currently down in the capital for talks and physical examinations, but claims no agreement has been put in place as yet.

"The latest is that we are completing the final stages of the medical, so we can get that over and done with and see where we are at," Barton told Sky Sports News HD.

"I've not made a final decision yet but, having spoken to the club, it's a club with ambition and I had to come down and hear what they had to say and go through the formalities of the medical side of it just in case something does happen."

Asked if he expected a transfer to be pushed through, Barton added: "I'm not sure. There are still a number of things to be sorted out.

"It's process that you have to take step by step and that's the stage we are at at the moment."
