Michy Batshuayi has joined Borussia Dortmund on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season.
Batshuayi completes a combination of transfers that sees him replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Dortmund, after the Gabon international joined Arsenal, while Olivier Giroud has signed for Chelsea from the Emirates.
Sky sources understand Batshuayi was not at the Chelsea team hotel on Tuesday night as they prepared for the game against Bournemouth on Wednesday and the club allowed Batshuayi to travel to Germany after agreeing terms.Dortmund have no option to buy the striker at the end of the loan deal, according to Sky sources. The Bundesliga club confirmed the news of Batshuayi's arrival just over 10 minutes before the 5pm German transfer deadline.
Batshuayi told the club's official website he is eager for more first-team action and has ambitions of making Belgium's World Cup squad in the summer.
"In order to achieve my big objective, I want to play as much as possible and score many goals," he said. "The World Cup is taking place in the summer."
Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc said: "Michy is a young, very interesting striker who boasts a good goalscoring record and has shown his extraordinary quality at Chelsea and Olympique Marseille, in the Belgian league and while playing for the national team."
Chelsea signed Batshuayi for £33m from Marseille in the summer of 2016 and he has scored seven Premier League goals in 32 appearances.
