Sky Sports sources understand QPR are set to announce Joey Barton has signed on a four-year contract.

Barton is on the transfer list at St James' Park and Newcastle are prepared to let the 28-year-old leave on a free before next week's deadline.

The midfielder had a medical with the Loftus Road outfit this week and was going to decide on Friday where his future lies.

He has now made his mind up that this is with helping Neil Warnock's side stay in the Premier League.

He will sign a four-year contract with the R's, with the move bringing to an end Barton's four-year stay at St James' Park.

Spanish club Atletico Madrid are trying to outbid Liverpool, as they attempt a last-ditch move to snatch Nacional defender Sebastian Coates from under Anfield noses.

On Thursday Goal.com revealed how the 20-year-old was set to arrive on Merseyside later today, ahead of a ?7.9 million move subject to a medical and special dispensation over the right to work in the UK.

The Reds had an offer for the highly-rated Uruguayan defender accepted on Wednesday and the player's father and agent have been in Liverpool discussing personal terms with director of football Damien Comolli.

However, Ovaciondigital.com reports that Atletico Madrid have entered the fray and are now willing to flex their financial muscle by offering the Uruguayan club ?1 million more than Liverpool's ?7.9m bid as the deal is not yet closed officially.

It is believed though that Coates has already made up his mind over playing at Anfield this season, having already rejected a larger offer from Ukraine's Dnipro.

Wanderers Complete Deal For Boyata

Bolton Wanderers have signed defender Dedryck Boyata on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

The 20-year-old, who made his senior international debut for Belgium against Austria last year, becomes the sixth player to join Owen Coyle's squad in the summer transfer window.

The Bolton manager said: "I am delighted that we have completed the loan deal for Dedryck because there was interest from a number of other clubs in taking him on loan.

"To bring in a player of Dedryck's age and quality is something, as we have shown before, that we like to do.

"He is a tremendous addition to the squad and his versatility means that he can operate at centre-half and full-back. He has got pace and power and is a flexible and dynamic player."

Speaking exclusively to the club, Boyata said: "I'm really looking forward to working with the manager. I have seen how he got the best out of young players like Jack Wilshere and Daniel Sturridge.

"I am only 20-years-old and I'm still learning and trying to improve. To come to Bolton Wanderers for a loan period is a great opportunity to do that."

Standing at 6ft 2in tall, Boyata has made 22 appearances for Manchester City, four of which came in the Blues' successful FA Cup run last season.

He also played the full 90 minutes for Roberto Mancini's team in the final fixture of the 2010/11 Premier League season at the Reebok Stadium last May.

Boyata moved to English football in 2007 from hometown club FC Brussels, where his talent and performances in the club's youth setup caught the attention of Manchester City scouts.

He won the FA Youth Cup the following year as City beat Chelsea in the final over two legs, before enhancing his credentials as a regular feature in the reserve setup.

Boyata made his first team debut against Middlesbrough in a third round FA Cup tie in 2010. He has since gone on to play against the likes of Juventus, Lech Poznan and SV Salzburg in the Europa League.

Elia on Arsenal's radar



Skysports.com understands that Arsenal have made an enquiry for Hamburg winger Eljero Elia.

The Gunners are looking to strengthen their squad before next Wednesday's transfer deadline and are in particular need of new creative talent after selling Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas to Manchester City and Barcelona respectively.

Wenger has funds to spend with the money generated from their departures and should be able to attract top-quality players after ensuring progression to the group phase of the UEFA Champions League.

He is considering his options and is now believed to have identified Netherlands international Elia as a transfer target.

It is thought that Arsenal have contacted Hamburg to enquire about the availability of the highly-rated 24-year-old.

Hamburg rejected an offer from Juventus for Elia earlier in the transfer window but the head coach of the German team, Michael Oenning, admitted on Thursday that his performances during the early part of the season had not been good enough.

Elia is under contract at Hamburg until 2014 after arriving at the club from FC Twente for a fee of around £7.5million two summers ago.

不過後尾買左Savic咁解

Gibson not on McLeish's radar



Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has ruled out making a move for Darron Gibson or Scott Parker.

McLeish has to adopt a 'sell to buy' policy if he is to bring in any more new signings before the transfer deadline on Wednesday.

And although Villa have accepted an undisclosed offer from QPR for defender Luke Young, McLeish claims he is not eyeing a move for Manchester United midfielder Gibson.

"He is not someone we have on the radar," he said.

"We have discussed him in the past amongst other midfielders, but it is unlikely."

Parker has been linked with a return to the Premier League following West Ham's relegation and although Tottenham have made a move for the England midfielder, McLeish insists the player is not on his radar.

"Definitely not him," he said. "But you could name 100 names and it is not my policy to talk about players until we dot the i's and cross the t's."

Young exit

Young has been keen to find a club in London since being frozen out last season and the former Tottenham and Charlton man, 32, is now in talks with QPR.

"Luke was told he wasn't in the plans and moved his family back to London," McLeish explained. "He has been commuting from London to Villa in recent times.

"We were very honest with each other when I came here. I said I wanted him, I needed his experience, he had to honour his contract.

"But I understand his situation and he thought if there was a chance of getting back to London, the club would be sympathetic to that. I said only if it suits us.

"QPR have put a bid in for Luke which the club have accepted and he is talking to them now with my approval - as long as we can add to the squad," added the Villa boss. "The deal is not done yet but the indications are he will go to QPR.

"We will be looking to bolster the squad with an experienced player. If we are thin on the ground, it is (in terms of) experience.

"We have got a list of players. We have to be ready with some names for the board."

Tottenham full-back Alan Hutton would fit that criteria and the Scotland international has also been linked with Villa.

Neil Warnock has clinched his first signing of the new era at Queens Park Rangers Football Club with the capture of Joey Barton from Newcastle United.

The talented England international midfielder has penned a four-year deal at Loftus Road, and becomes the first arrival in W12 since the takeover of the Club by Tony Fernandes and his fellow new Board members.

The 28 year-old has put pen to paper on a deal until the summer of 2015.

Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Barton expressed his delight at the move, commenting: "It's been quite a whirlwind, so to get things finally sorted and draw a line under it all is a great relief.

"The ambition of the Club really impressed me.

"There's obviously a great set of lads here already and that's why they had such a great season in the Championship.

"The gaffer is talking about adding two or three more bodies and that, combined with the potential of the Club and the new owners' ambitions, bodes really well for the future."

After moving to St James' Park from Manchester City in June 2007, Barton spent four years at St James Park, making 84 appearances in all competitions and scoring eight goals.

Warnock believes Barton's arrival will be key to the R's hopes this season, adding: "We've got a very, very good player on our hands.

"He's coming here to show people what he can do. He wants to get back into the England team.

"He's very enthusiastic. People will say one or two things about him, but they've said stuff about me in the past too, so I won't worry about that."

The R's Manager added: "He's a winner. Even without the armband on, he's a captain every week.

"He's a lot better play than people give him credit for. Hopefully we can harness all his positive characteristics and get the best out of him.

"I think with Tony's backing and Amit coming back on board this is a really positive step for the Football Club."

Barton will wear the number 17 shirt.

Tomas Rosicky 'considers abandoning Arsenal for Wolfsburg'

The Czech international has been plagued with injuries since joining the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund in 2006, and Bild report he could set for a return to Germany after his agent was spotted in Wolfsburg.
Arsene Wenger would be loath to lose any more of his current squad, and it’s hard to envisage him sanctioning the departure of Rosicky, especially in the wake of the Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas sales.
It’s understood around the Emirates that the 30-year-old will play an important role for Arsenal this season, and although he won’t be an automatic starter, Wenger is relying on his experience to aid the development of Aaron Ramsey.
Rosicky came on as a substitute during the Gunners 2-1 win in Udinese on Wednesday night, and is expected to take a central role against Manchester United this weekend in the absence of Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby, Alex Song and Emmanuel Frimpong.

The foreign club in talks with Fenerbahce over the transfer of Diego Lugano appears to be Paris Saint-Germain. The French side have agreed a ?3 million fee to sign him, a report in Turkey claims.

Having announced they were in talks with a "foreign" side on Thursday, the team in question are Ligue 1 spenders PSG, with Fenerbahce eager to trade after being ousted from the Champions League for match-fixing.

Ntvspor reports that the clubs have agreed on a deal, with PSG paying just ?3m for the 30-year-old Uruguay international who recently captained his nation to the Copa America.

Lugano is now expected to fly to France for a medical before signing a ?3.5m per annum contract.

The stopper was previously linked with Juventus, Genoa and Lazio, but it seems their interest has weakened as PSG swoop on the market once more.
