Atletico Madrid's Diego Forlan is hours away from Inter move - Gregorio Manzano

Atletico Madrid coach Gregorio Manzano has confirmed that Diego Forlan could join Inter within "the next few hours".

Forlan has been linked to the Serie A giants throughout the summer and is believed to be leaving Atletico for a fee in the region of ?5 million.

Manzano was speaking to Spanish media ahead of the club's first La Liga game of the season against Osasuna on Sunday.

"[Forlan] is not in the squad because it is expected that in the next few hours, he will leave our team and join Inter," the former Sevilla tactician told reporters in his press conference.

"He did not travel to Portugal in midweek [for the Europa League tie against Vitoria] and we know why. He is in negotiations with Inter - that is public news and everyone knows how it is going."

The Uruguayan striker joined Atletico for ?21m from Villarreal in the summer of 2007, and has scored 95 goals for the Madrid-based side in his four years at the club.

Manchester City is delighted to announce that Micah Richards has signed a new four-year contract with the Club.

The popular Academy graduate is approaching 200 appearances for City in all competitions since making his debut as a 17-year-old in October 2005.

He quickly took to first-team football and the following February he grabbed a dramatic last-minute equaliser at Villa Park to earn a replay in the FA Cup. In November of 2007, Micah won the first of 12 England caps so far and became the youngest defender to play for the national side.

Although versatile enough to play in central defence, Micah has established himself as City’s first choice right-back.

Despite a couple of niggling injuries, Micah was in great form for City during last season and he scored three times, including a sublime solo effort at Stoke and the winner against Reading in the FA Cup quarter final.

Sky Sports sources understand that Tottenham midfielder Wilson Palacios is in advanced talks with Stoke over a move to the Britannia Stadium.

Potters manager Tony Pulis has made no secret of his desire to bring in further reinforcements before Wednesday night's transfer deadline.

He is keen to keep Stoke on an upward curve after making so much progress over the past few years, while they also need a strong squad to cope with the demands of a Europa League campaign.

Stoke identified Palacios as a transfer target some time ago, while they were also thought to be interested in signing his Spurs team-mate Peter Crouch.

A move for Palacios now appears to be edging closer to completion, with it understood that discussions are at an advanced stage.

Honduras international Palacios is a proven Premier League performer, having spent time with Birmingham and Wigan before moving to Tottenham in January 2009.

He has made more than 60 appearances during his two-and-a-half years at White Hart Lane, but started to slip down the pecking order last season and Harry Redknapp appears ready to let him leave.

Ajax & NEC reach agreement for the sale of Jasper Cillessen

Ajax have announced that they have agreed a deal to sign NEC's Jasper Cillessen, with the goalkeeper set to undergo a medical on Saturday.

The Amsterdam club have been in the hunt for another keeper since Maarten Stekelenburg left the club last month to join Serie A giants, Roma.

Ajax confirmed on their official website that Cillessen has agreed a five-year deal, with the transfer figure currently undisclosed.

Cillessen, who enjoyed a wonderful breakthrough campaign last season, will fight it out with Kenneth Vermeer for the No.1 spot at the Amsterdam Arena.

The goalkeeper is yet to make an appearance for the Dutch national side, although he was selected for the friendlies against Brazil and Uruguay in June.

Valencia interested in Fenerbahce's Gokhan Gonul - report

Valencia have set their sights on Fenerbahce defender Gokhan Gonul, after the Turkish club’s expulsion from the 2011-12 Champions League.

Fenerbahce were thrown out of this season’s European competition amid an ongoing investigation into the match-fixing scandal in the Super Lig. Uefa’s decision has forced the Istanbul outfit to listen to offers for their star players and, according to Goal.com Turkey, Valencia have expressed their interest in bringing the Turkey international to La Liga.

However, with Gonul’s contract not due to expire until 2014 the clubs are believed to be some way apart in their valuation of the player. Fenerbahce will reportedly demand a fee of ?12 million, while Valencia are unwilling to offer much more than ?8m.

The 26-year-old right-back has made over 100 appearances for Fenerbahce since joining in 2007, and has won 24 caps for the Turkish national team.

ARSENAL WILL SIGN CAHILL
The Sunday Mirror are emphatically predicting that 'Arsenal will this week land Bolton star Gary Cahill - despite the ill-feeling between the clubs.'

Even after the rather unseemly nonsense on Friday between Arsene Wenger and Phil Garside, The Mirror reckons that the Gunners will sign Cahill with a 'fresh £12million bid which could rise to around £15m with any international and club honours won by Cahill over the course of a five-year contract.

'And the indications are that Cahill will be an Arsenal player before the transfer window closes as Wenger is determined to bolster his defence with a player of proven Premier League experience.'

Oh, and in case you missed Saturday's news and require a repeat, Arsenal are poised to sign Park Chu-Young from Monaco, with the South Korean due to undergo a medical in the next 24 hours.
