Mata, Meireles, Romeu and Lukaku Seal A Positive Transfer Window
The transfer window is finally shut and Chelsea have signed Juan Mata, Oriol Romeu, Romelu Lukaku and Raul Meireles with just the loss of Yossi Benayoun in what has been a good window for the club in my opinion.
The Modric saga is finally over and he remains a Tottenham player despite multiple bids from our club. Whilst I would have liked to see him at the Bridge I am delighted that the club did not pay £40m for his signature as he is simply not worth that much.
Harry Redknapp may be happy to have stuck to his guns but will ultimately regret declining bids of nearly double what the Croatian is truly worth as they struggle to regain a Champions League spot.
Failure to do so will also mean that should we retain an interest that he is likely to be available within 12 months at a discounted price.
Instead we have signed Raul Meireles a player that has performed well against us in the past and was a relative bargain at just £12m from Liverpool.
Of our signings Juan Mata has already shown us a glimpse of his talents on debut, Lukaku and Romeu are young talents and Meireles is a proven performer in the Premiership. I am satisfied with our window activity.
Now we can all get back to the football!
