Rafael Benitez praised Daniel Agger after his performance against PSV Eindhoven and admitted the Danish international has given him a nice selection problem.
Last season Benitez used Sami Hyypia and Jamie Carragher as his first choice central defensive partnership but this season Agger's consistency has impressed the Reds manager.
"Daniel had a good game," enthused Benitez. "He was ahead of Sami tonight and maybe he will be ahead of him again in the future.
"The team worked really, really hard in defence. You could see Momo, Zenden, Pennant and Aurelio supporting the defenders. It was the idea to get another clean sheet and go forward.
"We have one more point but I think we created enough chances to win and the last one was most clear, it was a great effort from Steven.
"In the Champions League you never know what the toughest game will be, but we know the experience and quality of PSV and to get a point here was a good result because if we win our homes games we are in a very good position.
