Exclusive Interview with Luka Modric: “I am fully concentrated on Tottenham”
It was one of those days when you wake up before your alarm clock… You’re so eager to get to work and morning can’t come soon enough. I must admit it, there are not too many days like that one for me but this was special. I had arranged an exclusive interview with Luka Modric, Tottenham’s star player. Probably everybody knows that he was involved in one of the biggest transfer stories this summer…and you probably know how that turned out.
We had the privilege to talk with Luka Modric about his feelings, goals and future plans…for the first time he spoke about summer craze in which he was involved. I think I’ve bored you with this intro enough, time for some real Q and A with one of the biggest Premiership stars. EXCLUSIVELY on Soccer-Magazine.com.
Soccer Magazine: Hey Luka, first let me say thanks a lot for the interview.
Luka: Not a problem, shoot.
There was a lot of speculation about Luka’s transfer to Chelsea, many times Roman Abramovic was rising the offer but Daniel Levy didn’t want to hear about Luka going anywhere. At the end he stayed at Tottenham although he expressed desire to leave…
Soccer Magazine: How do you feel after that never ending summer transfer saga?
Luka: Unfortunatly, my wish wasn’t granted but now I am fully concentrated on Tottenham and will do my best to help the club achieve a reputable league position.
Season couldn’t have started better for Luka with two amazing goals in very important matches. First he scored in national jersey against Israel in qualification for Euro 2012 and then he scored against Liverpool in 4-0 victory…
SM: I see you’re already doing your best – you returned in the best possible fashion with two goals (Israel and Liverpool).
Luka: I couldn’t return because I didn’t go anywhere. (giggles) Yeah, I scored two beautiful goals and both of them were very important and I am happy with my performances.
Last season many soccer experts praised Luka as best Premiership player, especially Sir Alex Ferguson, who many times mentioned that he would like to have player like Luka in his team…
SM: Lots of experts claim you are the best Premiership player. Will this year be the one for you to confirm their opinions and what do you expect from it?
Luka: First of all, I expect to be healthy and injury free this year. If I will be, I am sure that I will play even better than last season.
Tottenham will be in top 4 clubs this season!
SM: Where do you see Tottenham at the end of the season?
Luka: Definately among top 4 clubs. We have the quality for high league position, especially after signing Adebayor and Parker.
Adebayor is great signing, he will be great reinforcement for Tottenham and already in first matches he proved that, Luka also has great opinion about him…
SM: You mentioned Adebayor. What do you think about Emmanuel?
Luka: He is a great player, just the type we needed. With his cheerful personality he has lifted the mood of the whole locker room. In short – great guy and even better player.
Many soccer experts claim that Luka Modric should play closer to opponents goal, that he would be more dangerous and that he would score much more goals…
SM: A lot of fans think that you should play in a more offensive position, especially after last few goals you’ve scored. What is your opinion about this?
Luka: I think that I should play exactly the position that I am playing now…after all – thats the position from which I’ve scored those goals.
Manchester United is no:1 favorite for winning the Premiership title according to Luka, but we didn’t know that he likes Sir Alex Ferguson as much as Sir Alex likes him…
SM: Who is your favourite for Premiership tittle this year and why?
Luka: Manchester United because they have the best team and the best manager.
We all know that Luka built himself as a player in best Croatian club, Dinamo Zagreb which is playing this year in World’s famous competition Champions League…
SM: Your ex club Dinamo Zagreb finally made it into Champions league, how do you fancy their chances?
Luka: I am very happy to see them in the Champions league. I watched their game vs. Real Madrid and they showed that they’ll be more than just a passanger there. They have every right to count on one of the first three places in the group.
Lot of people thinks that Leo Messi is one of the greatest of all time and probably the best player of the World. Luka is one of them and he has his own opinion why Messi is the best…
SM: One question that everybody is asking…Messi or Ronaldo?
Luka: Messi. You can count on him to perform at the top of his game in big matches and he contributes to his team more than Ronaldo. Although, both of them are class players.
Croatia has great chance to qualify for Euro 2012, they are 1st on the table but in front of them is difficult guest appearance against Greece…
SM: And last question…how is your national team doing?
Luka: We are in a great position and are traveling to Greece to secure the win which will take us to European championship. We are aware that it won’t be easy but our confidence is high.
That ended a nice chat with Luka…he had to go off to a practice (Harry was already giving me dirty looks) and I was off to my office. Although I like his office better…when I think about it – I will attend his office this weekend. What do you think, will he attend mine?
