Joe Hart has informed Manchester City he wants to join Torino on a season-long loan. The clubs were on Monday discussing the deal and it is understood the goalkeeper is confident it will go through before the transfer window closes on Wednesday.
City are open to paying some of Hart’s wages, though the proportion of his £135,000-a-week salary to be sourced by each club remains a major point of negotiation. There is a determination from all parties to make the move happen, with Hart keen to ensure his CAREER does not stall.The 29-year-old has been demoted as City’s No1 by Pep Guardiola and was again on the bench on Sunday for the 3-1 victory against West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium, where Willy Caballero started.
Torino finished 12th in Serie A last term and are seventh with three points after the opening two games of the season. Hart is keen to play regularly and knows that if he does not join the Italian club or go elsewhere his status will drop to third choice under Guardiola. Sunderland, who want a goalkeeper after Vito Mannone was ruled out for a minimum of three months, are not an option for Hart.On Thursday Guardiola signed Claudio Bravo from Barcelona for around £17m to be Hart’s replacement. Caballero is expected to be the deputy so Hart will struggle to make even the match-day squads.
Hart also has his England status as the No1 to protect. He is in Sam Allardyce’s first squad, for the World Cup qualifier against Slovakia on Sunday, but Allardyce has warned Hart has to play on a weekly basis to be considered in the long term
