Premier League - Liverpool star Downing 'arrested'

The Mail reports that Downing, 27, was arrested by police in the early hours of Sunday morning after allegedly hitting an ex-girlfriend.
The incident is said to have taken place at the Cross Keys on Yarm High Street.
"Police were called to an incident at a pub on Yarm High Street," said a police spokesman.
"A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and a 32-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of assault.
"Both are in custody and inquiries are ongoing."
Downing was born in and played for Middlesbrough, which is near Yarm.
He joined Liverpool from Aston Villa last summer in a deal worth £20 million.
