Kennedy believes Andy Carroll could have a big part to play on Sunday as he prepares to make his first appearance at St James' Park since leaving for Anfield in January 2011.
He added: "I think everybody loves this fixture. It's live on TV every time Liverpool play Newcastle and I think because it's away it will take the pressure off Liverpool.
"They can express themselves with it being away and from a personal point of view
I'd like to see Andy Carroll back in the starting line-up. I know he's missed one or two games but if you are going to play him alongside Suarez then they've got to be given time to develop their understanding.
"There's no better place for Andy Carroll to go back to, his boyhood team and play well.
