Roma have completed the transfer of Argentina international Fernando Gago from Real Madrid on a one-year loan deal. The move has been confirmed on the official website of Lega Serie A.
The Stadio Olimpico side were keen to add some more depth to their midfield and head coach Luis Enrique has now found his man in Gago.
The 25-year-old midfielder joined Madrid from Boca Juniors in January 2007 and has since made close to 100 official appearances for the Santiago Bernabeu side.
However, Gago was surplus to requirements at Real Madrid under head coach Jose Mourinho and therefore wanted to leave the club.
Gago is Roma's third signing on the final day of the summer transfer window after the previous captures of Simon Kjaer from Wolfsburg and Miralem Pjanic from Olympique Lyonnais.
