AC Milan forward Antonio Cassano has successfully undergone heart surgery at the Policlinico di Milano hospital, the club have revealed on their official website.
The operation was performed by Mario Carminati, one of the most renowned specialists in his field, and lasted only 35 minutes. Milan club doctor Rodolfo Tavani was also present during the surgery.
Cassano was taken to hospital after taking ill upon the club's return from Rome last Saturday night and underwent several tests to determine the cause of his complaints.
Milan announced on Wednesday that the 29-year-old suffered cerebral trauma and would have to undergo surgery.
Although the Italy international's operation was a success, a comeback is still far off as he is expected to be sidelined for several months following the surgery.
