Chelsea striker Fernando Torres 'would love' a return to Atletico Madrid says Diego Simeone Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has said that Chelsea striker Fernando Torres "would love" a return to Atleti, the club where he made his name. And Simeone has also confirmed that the Blues are interested in star striker Diego Costa -
whilst confirming he will support the Brazilian-turned-Spanish international if he wants to move to Stamford Bridge.
The two clubs are set to do battle in the Champions League semi-final, with the first leg next week,
as the Spanish World Cup winnerv returns to the Vicente Calderon for the first time since leaving La Liga for Liverpool in 2007.
And Atleti boss Simeone says Torres would fancy a more permanent homecoming this summer.
He told Spanish radio station Onda Cero:
"Fernando is always with us; obviously I have sent messages to him, he is very happy with everything that is happening to this team, he is always present, wishing us luck. "Of course he would love to come back to the club he grew up in and where he was very happy." Torres has struggled for his best form since arriving in west London from Liverpool for £50million in 2011, and this term has managed just four goals in the Premier League.
In contrast, 25-year-old Costa has been outstanding for the Primera Division leaders, notching 26 league goals,
seven more in the Champions League and thriving as the club's main man, having stepped into the breach following Radamel Falcao's summer sale.
