Barcelona close in on ?35 million Marquinhos dealThe defender only signed for Paris Saint-Germain less than 11 months ago but looks set to leave for Camp Nou, while Dani Alves could move in the opposite direction EXCLUSIVE

Barcelona are in final negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Brazil central defender Marquinhos - new coach Luis Enrique's priority signing for his first season in charge at Camp Nou. The transfer, which sources involved expect to be agreed by Monday, may also see Marquinhos' compatriot Dani Alves move to the French champions. The right-back has won four La Liga titles and the Champions League twice in six seasons at Barcelona,
but despite entering the final year of a contract worth over ?10million annually, has yet to be told by the club whether he is wanted for another campaign.
PSG, in contrast, have made their interest in Alves explicit, leading the player to describe them as a “real alternative for me”. The Qatar-owned club initially refused to countenance selling Marquinhos just a season after acquiring the defender from Roma for a fee of over ?30m,
informing him that he would not be permitted to leave.
Barca's persistence with the 20-year-old, however, coupled with PSG's ?50m recruitment of David Luiz from Chelsea, subsequently led them to price the 20-year-old at ?60m. Barca are now negotiating that sum down to ?35m, with PSG proposing that Alves be included in the final deal. If the Brazilian is allowed to move to join the club it is understood he will seek a three-year contract there.
Central defence has been an obvious problem area for Barcelona for several seasons after Carles Puyol's failing knee forced him into retirement,
while the attempted conversion of Javier Mascherano and Alex Song into centre-backs failed to fill the gap.
Ironically, the Catalans lost their preferred choice for the position, Thiago Silva, to PSG in a 2012 bidding war, and have been unable to extract him from the French capital since.
While Alves is a cornerstone of a Brazil defence that is considered fundamental to their efforts to reclaim the World Cup,
Marquinhos is still waiting for a second full international appearance for his country.
He was not called up by Luiz Felipe Scolari for the finals, but scored as Brazil's Under-20s won the Toulon Tournament on Sunday.

Barcelona and French Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint Germain are reportedly set to open initial discussions over the transfer of Brazilian right-back, Dani Alves as the Catalan club continues to look for a way to bring Marquinhos to the Catalan capital. According to Spanish sports daily, AS, the directors of Barcelona and PSG will meet to discuss the various pieces in play between the two clubs, as Barcelona have continuously been linked with young Brazilian defender, Marquinhos and PSG have been linked with Dani Alves for well over a year. However, Alves’ recent comments praising PSG and stating that it is a very real option for him, have suggested that there is more than meets the eye
and this particular report, which is supported by Barcelona-based sports daily, Mundo Deportivo, states that the two sides will sit down and discuss the terms for both players.
Barcelona missed out on Marquinhos last summer, as the Brazilian stated he got tired of waiting for the Catalan’s who has put a slow to to their transfer activity
following the resignation of late manager Tito Vilanova and the appointment of Tata Martino, which led to the U-21 star making a ?32 million move from AS Roma to PSG.
However,
Marquinos is not seen as a stater in his first season in Paris and has admitted that he’s keen to test the waters if his situation doesn’t change, while Alves comments leave little debate over his future plans. “Paris? I think they’re a great club and I love playing for big clubs, it’s always my dream. What I’ve always wanted is to play at clubs that can offer me challenges and PSG is a big club.
If at some point I have to leave Barcelona, then they’re a real alternative for me.” www.insidespanishfootball.com/111494/barcelona-and-psg-to-begin-negotiations-over-the-sale-of-dani-alves/ [ 此帖被羅力亞在2014-06-08 02:09重新編輯 ]
