BIG BEN FOR BORINI?

Liverpool are ready to use Fabio Borini as part of a deal to try and force Aston Villa to allow Christian Benteke to leave the club, according to the Independent.

Brendan Rodgers is not willing to pay the Belgian's 32.5million release clause and the Liverpool boss is looking at other ways to convince Villa to sell their star man.

Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne is currently undergoing a medical on Merseyside ahead of his £12.5million move to Liverpool.

The 24-year-old England right-back has returned from holiday and is in the city to complete the final stages of his transfer.

If everything goes to plan then Clyne is likely to be announced as the club's sixth summer signing on Wednesday, when the transfer window officially opens.
