Gun Attack On Hertha Berlin Team BusAn unidentified assailant on a motorbike is understood to have opened fire on the Hertha Berlin bus ahead of a German Cup match.Police are investigating a gun attack on a Bundesliga team bus which was on its way to pick up players travelling to an away game.First division side Hertha Berlin posted an image of a bullet hole in the bus windscreen, with the caption: "Unbelievable! Our team bus was shot at on the way to a German Cup match. Luckily no one was injured!"
Several German newspapers are quoting Hertha sporting director Michael Preetz as saying t
he driver was alone in the bus when an unidentified assailant on a motorbike opened fire.He said the driver was on the way to Bielefeld train station, in north-west Germany, to pick up the team who had travelled to the city by train.
"We are deeply shocked and hope that the perpetrators will be caught. Luckily our bus driver got away with just a fright," Mr Preetz said.
Hertha Berlin are due to face second division side Arminia Bielefeld on Monday.
Arminia Bielefeld tweeted: "We are shocked by the attack on the Hertha team bus. We are very lucky that our colleague from Berlin was unharmed."
Both teams have tweeted an appeal for anyone with information to contact local police.
