Tottenham's Emmanuel Adebayor a loan target for West Ham

West Ham hope to land Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor on a loan deal until the end of the season, Sky sources understand.

West Ham are in desperate need of reinforcements up front with three of their four main strikers – Andy Carroll, Enner Valencia and Mauro Zarate – sidelined through injury.

And the Hammers are actively pursuing a deal to land Adebayor, who is inside the final year of his lucrative Tottenham contract.

The 31-year-old looked set to go on loan to Aston Villa in a move which would have seen him reunited with former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood.

But the deal fell through after Adebayor had been given a tour of Villa's Bodymoor Heath training ground, reportedly due to both parties being unable to agree terms.

West Ham reportedly failed in an attempt to lure Adebayor to Upton Park last January but have now returned to the negotiating table as they try and strengthen their depleted attack.

Former Arsenal and Manchester City striker Adebayor has not played for Spurs in pre-season and saw the No 10 shirt he wore last season handed to England international Harry Kane.

ADEBAYOR TO WEST HAM ON?

Emmanuel Adebayor’s proposed move from Tottenham to West Ham is now reportedly back on, according to the Daily Mail.

The former Arsenal and Manchester City striker was not thought to be keen on a move to Upton Park, leaving the Hammers to look elsewhere for striking reinforcements.

However, the 31-year-old now appears ready to commit to West Ham with the two clubs looking to complete a season-long loan deal before the 6pm deadline.

The complication for West Ham is that they have already used up their allocation of loan players for the season.

Could Emmanuel Adebayor be the fifth player to come into West Ham today?

Andy Burton reports from Upton Park: "I've just spoken to Adebayor on the phone, he tells me he's sat at home, watching SSNHQ's coverage and waiting, desperately hoping to get a move to West Ham.

"He said he would love to go to West Ham, and is desperate to play and score goals.

"But West Ham already their full quota of domestic loans with Carl Jenkinson and Victor Moses on board, so Adebayor, who has one year left on his contract at Tottenham, may have to have his final year's wages made up by West Ham to force the move through."
