Ranieri, Vardy Up For Monthly Honours
Leicester City are strongly represented in the nominations for November’s Barclays Premier League awards, with Claudio Ranieri and Jamie Vardy both shortlisted. Claudio is among four nominations for November’s Manager of the Month, while Vardy has been shortlisted for the Player of the Month award. The winners will be announced on Friday.
It is the second successive month that Ranieri has been nominated for the managerial accolade, having just missed out on the October award to Manchester City’s Manuel Pellegrini. November saw
Ranieri’s side climb to the top of the Premier League table with wins over Watford and Newcastle United and a draw with Manchester United. Ranieri’s record compares favourably with his fellow nominees –
Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, Everton’s Roberto Martinez and Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino. Vardy, meanwhile, is nominated for third month in succession. City’s England international striker missed out on the September award to United’s Anthony Martial, but did manage to get his hands on the trophy for October. The Premier League’s leading marksman scored in all three of City’s games in the month, taking his tally for the season to 14 and breaking a 13-year-old Premier League record by scoring for the 11th consecutive game.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Watford’s Troy Deeney, Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren and Everton duo Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley are the other names vying with Vardy for the November prize.
The winners of both awards will be announced on Friday.
