Wayne Rooney has won the 2015 England Player of the Year Award. The Manchester United skipper became his country's greatest ever goalscorer last year - surpassing Sir Bobby Charlton's previous record of 49. Rooney scored seven times during England's Euro 2016 qualifying campaign as Roy Hodgson's men secured their place in France with a 100percent record. He was presented with the Vauxhall Player of the Year award this week, winning the prize for a second successive season.
Rooney has now claimed the accolade on four separate occasions during his 13-year international career.
The winner of the award is decided by England supporters club members with Rooney receiving 37 percent of the vote. He follows in the footsteps of Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and David Beckham in winning the prize.
Rooney will lead his country out at Euro 2016 in his first major tournament as captain, although his place in the team is far from secure.
