Eidur Gudjohnsen has joined Pune City as their marquee player for the 2016 season.The 37-year-old will replace another former Chelsea forward, Adrian Mutu, on Pune's roster for the new season.Gudjohnsen has also played for Barcelona, Monaco, Tottenham, Bolton and Stoke and has 88 caps for his country.
He represented Iceland at Euro 2016, reaching the quarter-finals with his nation. They were knocked out by hosts France.
Gudjohnsen has a significant pedigree in the game.
He won the Premier League twice with Chelsea before moving to Barcelona, where he won the Champions League and La Liga.
Pune City finished seventh in the 2015 Indian Super League, only two points ahead of bottom side Kerala Blasters.
Gudjohnsen joins the likes of John Arne Riise, Lucio and Diego Forlan as marquee players in the Indian Super League for the coming season.
The striker will play under former Valencia, Celta and Bolivia manager Antonio Lopez, who was appointed as Pune City's new manager in April.
The Indian Super League is due to start on October 2.
