Hull have announced the signing of Tottenham and England midfielder Ryan Mason for a club-record fee, which Sky sources understand is £13m.Mason became the second new arrival at the KC Stadium in the space of a couple of hours on Tuesday afternoon following the signing of goalkeeper David Marshall from Cardiff.
The fee is officially undisclosed but Sky Sports News HQ understand it is £13m, which beats the previous record of £10m which they paid for striker Abel Hernandez.
Mason - who will have to wait to make his Hull debut because of the international break - was a regular off the bench for Spurs, but he says he had no hesitation in agreeing to leave London when the Tigers came in for him."I'm delighted to get the deal done and I can't wait to get started," he told Sky Sports News HQ. "It's a shame I've got to wait for two weeks.
"When I look at the squad, it's a good bunch of characters, a good bunch of lads. It felt right - I had to go with my gut. As soon as they became interested, Hull City was the club for me. It was a straightforward decision. I'm excited.
"Hopefully I'll justify the faith the club has in me and I'll have a good season. I'm 25 and I want to be playing week-in, week-out and kick on as a player."
Mason, who won his one and only England cap in March 2015, hopes good performances for City will impress Sam Allardyce.
"I'm coming to my peak but my goal is to get in the Hull team and then anything can happen," he said. "Of course, I'm an Englishman and I want to play for my country."
