• Spain striker aimed slap at Honduras defender
• 'I'll try in future to keep my cool'
David Villa will not face disciplinary action for slapping Emilio Izaguirre in the face during Spain's 2-0 win over Honduras after Fifa decided there were no grounds to proceed.
"The disciplinary committee examined the incident and found no grounds to open a case," a spokesman said.
Villa, who scored both Spain's goals in Monday's match, aimed a slap at Izaguirre late in the first half. After the game he admitted that he would need to control his temper in future.
"It's not something that I am proud of," he said in an interview with the Spanish broadcaster Canal Plus. "I wasn't expecting him to tread on me. I was merely standing there and the reaction was to stick my arm out. I'll try in future to keep my cool."
Spain have three points from two matches and meet the Group H leaders Chile at Pretoria's Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Friday evening.
