West Brom's Borja Valero joins Villarreal on loan
West Brom midfielder Borja Valero has joined Spanish side Villarreal on a season-long loan, with a view to a permanent deal.
The 25-year-old had returned to training with the Baggies after his previous loan at Real Mallorca ended.
West Brom rejected a bid from Sevilla for the Spaniard last month but agreed to let him join Villarreal for "professional and family reasons".He was Albion's record signing at £4.7m when he joined from Mallorca in 2008.
Valero, who began his career at Real Madrid, had been hoping for a move back to his native Spain and the newly-promoted Baggies agreed following "lengthy negotiations".
West Brom sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth told the club's official website: "After relegation in 2009 we agreed to loan Borja to Real Mallorca.
"On the back of an outstanding season in Spain, and taking into account his professional and personal wishes, we decided to accept an offer from Villarreal.
"I'd like to thank Borja for his contribution and his professional attitude throughout the last two years and we wish him well over the coming season."
