Rio misses Turkey trip
Rio Ferdinand was a notable absentee from the United squad that checked in at Manchester Airport on Monday morning for the Champions League trip to Turkey to face Bursaspor.
Ferdinand played the full 90 minutes of the Reds' 2-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday, but will not feature in Tuesday's clash with the Turkish champions. That may pave the way for Chris Smalling to make his third European appearance of the season alongside Nemanja Vidic in the centre of defence.
Young Norwegian midfielder Magnus Eikrem was named in the travelling party, but Jonny Evans, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Federico Macheda and Anderson were all missing.
United's travelling squad to face Bursaspor: Van der Sar, Amos, Kuszczak; Evra, Brown, Vidic, Smalling, Rafael, Fabio, O'Shea; Eikrem, Scholes, Obertan, Bebe, Fletcher, Carrick, Park, Nani; Berbatov, Hernandez.
