Atletico Madrid have confirmed the appointment of Gregorio Manzano as their new coach on a one-year deal.
The 55-year-old was linked with a number of sides after leaving his post at Sevilla as the Andalucian club did not offer him a new contract.
Manzano replaces Quique Sanchez Flores who left the Vicente Calderon at the end of last season.
A statement on the club's official site reads: "Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement with Gregorio Manzano to become the new coach of Atletico for next season 2011-12."Manzano will be unveiled to the media over the coming days. He was linked with the post at Getafe, but they have since confirmed Luis Garcia will be the new man at the helm.
The Spanish coach was in charge of Atleti during the 2003-04 campaign before moving to Malaga, Mallorca and then Sevilla.
