Inter have completed the signing of Brazilian defender Jonathan from Santos for an undisclosed fee. The Coppa Italia winners have revealed on their official website that Jonathan has signed a contract until the summer of 2015.The defender had already been training with the Giuseppe Meazza side since Wednesday and the last details have now been ironed out to officially make the 25-year-old an Inter player.
"Let's make Inter even more successful. I've always heard that Inter are a fantastic club, with everything they have won and considering the league they play in. I'm delighted to have this chance to ply my trade here and show what I'm capable of," commented Jonathan on his move to Inter
Jonathan started his professional career with Cruzeiro and joined Santos in December 2010. He had since become an important first team member and won the Copa Libertadores with the Sao Paulo side.
The arrival of Jonathan could possibly have consequences for the future of Maicon at Inter. The right-back has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and he could opt to move on following the increased competition for a starting berth at the 2010 Champions League winners.
