Espanyol striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo has joined Roma in a deal worth at least ?15 million on a five-year contract, the two clubs have confirmed. The Italo-Argentine has signed a contract with the capital club expiring in 2016.
The cost to Luis Enrique's side could increase from the initial ?15m, depending on stipulations regarding bonuses being met. The 25-year-old will receive ?3.6m in the first season of his stay in Rome, with his salary rising each year to an eventual ?4.47m in 2015-16.
After earlier confirmation from Espanyol, the Italians released a statement on their website, announcing the forward as a Roma player.
"A.S. Roma S.P.A. confirm we have signed a contract with RCD Espanyol SAD for the acquisition of the definitive rights for the sporting performances of the footballer Pablo Daniel Osvaldo," the missive affirms.Osvaldo spent 18 months in Catalunya, scoring 22 league goals in 47 games. Eight of his strikes came in the 21 matches he initially played while on loan from Bologna.
The forward, who has caps for the Italy Under-21 side under his belt, also played for Atalanta, Lecce and Fiorentina after first arriving on the peninsula from Huracan in January 2006.
