Atletico Madrid have announced the signing of veteran midfielder Emre on a free transfer from Fenerbahce.
The Turkey international has signed a two-year contract with the Rojiblancos and news of his imminent arrival at the Vicente Calderon was enthusiastically greeted by compatriot Arda Turan.
"He has everything to succeed at Atletico," the 25-year-old winger told the club's official website.
"He has shown that he has the personality to control big teams and his experience can help a lot in key games.
"For me, he's like my brother and I have learned a lot from him."
Atletico sporting director Jose Luis Caminero also believes that Emre will prove a valuable addition to Diego Simeone's squad.
"His experience should bring further strength to our team, which is one of the youngest in the league," the former Spain international pointed out.
Emre, who has been capped 80 times by his country, was reportedly keen to leave Turkey after finding himself at the centre of a racism controversy last month following a clash with Trabzonspor's Didier Zokora.

Official: Atletico Madrid sign Cristian Rodriguez from Porto
The Uruguayan winger has brought his search for a new club to an end after his last season at the Estadio do Dragao was marred by disciplinary problemsMay 28, 2012 7:45:00 PM

Atletico Madrid have announced the signing of Cristian Rodriguez from Porto on their official website.
The Uruguay international joins the Europa League champions on a free transfer as his contract with the Portuguese champions expires in June.
Rodriguez joined Porto in 2008 after a season on loan at Benfica and played an important role in his first season at the Estadio do Dragao.
But he was close to leaving the club in the January transfer window after falling out with Vitor Pereira, but eventually returned to the team's set-up after making peace with the coach.
However, the former Paris Saint-Germain player was allowed to return to Uruguay in April after being removed from the squad amid fresh disciplinary problems, this time after a training-ground rift with teammate Joao Moutinho.
The 26-year-old is Atletico's first summer signing, as coach Diego Simeone bids to strengthen his side after they missed out on Champions League football following a fifth-placed finish in La Liga.
