Fiorentina to snap up Gomez, claims agent

The 27-year-old looks set to swap Germany for Italythis summer, as the forward's representative claims his client will jointhe Viola

Fiorentina are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez, according to the player's agent.

Speculation has intensified in recent days over where the Germany international will be plying his trade next season, with the forward's representative, Uli Ferber, stating recently that his client favours a move to Italy.

The Viola arereportedly leading the chase for the wantaway striker and Ferberconfirmed Stadio Artemio Franchi is a probable destination for the27-year-old.

Speaking to Sport1, he said: "Mario is heading toward Fiorentina, but nothing has been signed as of yet. That is all I can say."

Theformer Stuttgart forward has fallen out of favour at the Allianz Arena,with Croatia international Mario Mandzukic the hitman-of-choice forJupp Heynckes during his final year with the club.

Gomez, whosecontract with the Bavarians runs until 2016, has netted 113 times in 174appearances for the champions of Europe since his move from Stuttgartin 2009.

The Germany legend has confirmed the striker's desireto leave the European champions this summer, but insists no approacheshave yet been madeBayern Munich striker Mario Gomez is keen to leave the club this summer, according to CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Gomezfell out of favour under Jupp Heynckes last season, with MarioMandzukic preferred in the lone forward role for the 2012-13treble-winners, leading the Germany international's agent to confirm his client is seeking pastures new this summer.

Althoughhe admits Gomez has made it clear he wishes to leave the Allianz Arena,Rummenigge has stressed there have been no approaches for the player asyet and, as such, he remains part of Bayern's pre-season plans.

"Mario has the desire to leave the club," he told Sky Sport.

"He announced that to us. But until now, this has not lead to a transfer.

"Mariowill get back to training with us and then we will see. There have been no offers from Italian clubs and not from clubs from other countries.

"We have to stay calm and see what happens. If we reached an agreement with another club, I would not exclude him leaving us."

Gomezhas been linked with the likes of Fiorentina and Napoli in recentweeks, as well as a switch to the Premier League.
