Bye-bye Bendtner! Danish striker to join Frankfurt this week


Nicklas Bendtner’s protracted exit from Arsenal will finally be completed this week when he joins German side Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Danish international has been desperate to leave the Gunners for two seasons following unsuccessful loan spells with Sunderland and Juventus.
Bendtner, 25, joined Arsenal in 2005 but has never managed to hold down a regular place in Arsene Wenger’s side due to inconsistent performances and off-the-field issues.
The former FC Copenhagen striker hasn’t played for Arsenal since August 2011, having scored 43 goals in 157 appearances since joining the club as a youth-team player.
A fee in the region of ?5 (£4.3m) has been touted for Bendtner, though additional fees and clauses are likely to be included within the final deal.
Bundesliga up-and-comers Frankfurt have persuaded the outspoken Dane to take a hit on his reported £52,000-per-week salary, but further details surrounding the contract offered to him are currently unknown.

Frankfurt chief Heribert Bruchhagen told Die Welt: “Chances are slim that Nicklas Bendtner will be joining us.
“He is simply in a different salary class and even if we would be able to pay those wages, he cannot deceive our key players.
“We would just able to afford a Nicklas Bendtner salary inside our wages budget. I would think it is definitely unrealistic to believe Arsenal FC could be out to heavily subsidize this deal.”

Frankfurt officially confirm Bendtner negotiations


Frankfurt have taken the unusual step of confirming they are in a final round of talks with Nicklas Bendtner and underlined that a decision as to whether the player joins or not will be taken in the next two days.
Bendtner is thought to have flown to the Costa del Sol in the last week to hold talks with new Malaga manager Bernd Schuster but appears to finally be edging closer to the Bundesliga despite something of a rollercoaster set of negotiations with Frankfurt.
It remains to be seen whether the German side are aiming to complete a permanent rather than loan deal, although it’s fair to say all parties would prefer the former.
A statement on Frankfurt’s official website reads:

Given the decision to release an update it would be very surprising if a deal between Frankfurt and the TGSTEL didn’t now materialise. Of course, as with Nicky B’s shooting anything could happen…

Nicklas Bendtner's proposed move to Eintracht Frankfurt has hit a stumbling block.
The Arsenal striker was expected to complete the transfer on Tuesday when he arrived in Germany to finalise the deal.
However, Frankfurt chairman Heribert Bruchhagen says a move for the Denmark international is not realistic, with talks rumoured to have broken down due to Bendtner's wage demands.
Bruchhagen said "After weighing up all the arguments, Bendtner turned out not to be a realistic prospect.
"Now it's up to us. There are no problems with Arsenal. We have to see if it's financially viable."
Bendtner spent last season on loan at Serie A champions Juventus but they opted not to make the deal permanent after he failed to score a goal.

Eintracht Frankfurt have ended their interest in Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner after failing to agree personal terms.
Frankfurt chairman Heribert Bruchhagen announced earlier on Thursday that a deal was in doubt.
The plug has now been pulled, despite a fee having been agreed with Arsenal.
Bendtner was open to the idea of moving to Germany, after being deemed surplus to requirements at Emirates Stadium, but his wage demands have proved to be a sticking point.
Frankfurt are now believed to have turned their attention to Sparta Prague's Czech Republic international Vaclav Kadlec.
On the breakdown in discussions with Bendtner, sporting director Bruno Hubner told the club's official website: "We would like to thank Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for the constructive conversations and the high level of cooperation.
"There was interest from all three parts, but in the end it did not match up."
Bendtner is still expected to be on the move this summer, but has one year remaining on his contract at Arsenal if now agreement is reached.
