Clint Dempsey: Fulham set to re-sign forward



Forward Clint Dempsey is having a medical at Fulham ahead of a return to the Premier League side on loan from Seattle Sounders.
Dempsey, 30, left Craven Cottage to join Tottenham for £6m in 2012 and moved back to the US in August.
The loan deal will provide him with regular playing time before he returns home for the start of the new Major League Soccer season on 8 March.
The move could go through when the transfer window opens on 1 January.
Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen said: "Clint will be a boost for us."
The United States international spent five and a half years at Craven Cottage before moving to Spurs, scoring 50 goals in 184 league matches

Rene: Dempsey Deal Close


Head Coach Rene Meulensteen has confirmed that Clint Dempsey is close to sealing a return to Fulham.

The American spent five-and-a-half years at Craven Cottage before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2012 but is
set to head back to SW6 on a short-term loan from Seattle Sounders who are currently in their off-season.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Meulensteen said: “He’s having a medical and we’re looking into that.
It would be a real boost for us. Hopefully that will all work out.

“Clint spent so many years playing in the Premier League and we all know where his strengths are.
He can come in from the left or play as a second striker depending on who you’re playing against.
It speaks volumes for him that he wants to come back here. Initially it’s for January and February.”

Fulham Football Club is delighted to announce the two-month loan signing of Clint Dempsey from MLS side Seattle Sounders FC.

The 30-year-old midfielder returns to Craven Cottage having first signed a permanent deal for the Club in January 2007 from New England Revolution.

During five-and-a-half seasons at Fulham, Dempsey scored 60 goals in 225 appearances.
Arguably the most memorable of his strikes was the fourth goal in a 4-1 victory against Juventus in the UEFA Europa League which completed
a dramatic comeback over two legs en route to the inaugural 2010 Final.

Dempsey also scored the only goal of the match against Liverpool at Craven Cottage in May 2007 which secured Premier League football for the Whites the following season.

He was voted Fulham’s 2011/12 Player of the Season by the fans for a second consecutive term before signing for Tottenham Hotspur in August 2012.
