Champions League - Pellegrini hit by UEFA banManchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has been suspended for three Champions League games, one of which is suspended, following his outburst last week. Pellegrini was charged by UEFA for “violation of the general principles of conduct” after he reacted to a 2-0 last-16, first-leg loss to Barcelona by strongly criticising referee Jonas Eriksson. The City manager was infuriated by the match official's decision to send off Martin Demichelis and award Barcelona a penalty despite the initial contact from the defender
on Lionel Messi coming outside the box."I spoke to him (Eriksson) at the end and told him he should be very happy because he decided the match," Pellegrini said. "
Barcelona had no chance to score until the penalty against Demichelis."The referee was not impartial. He did not have any control of the game.
I think it was not a good idea to have a referee from Sweden in such an important match.
"More important football is played in Europe than in Sweden so a big game with two important teams - that kind of game needs a referee with more experience."
Pellegrini, who normally has a reputation as being a calm and collected individual, subsequently apologised to Eriksson and Sweden but it has not been enough to spare
him punishment at the hands of UEFA.
The City boss will now be banned from the touchline for the return leg of the Barcelona fixture and,
with City trailing 2-0 going into the match at Camp Nou,
most likely their opening European fixture next season. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/champions-league-pellegrini-hit-uefa-ban-145249793--sow.html[ 此帖被羅力亞在2014-02-28 23:25重新編輯 ]
