Transfer news: Pepe Reina completes transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich

Pepe Reina has completed his transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich.

The Spain international goalkeeper, who spent last season on loan at Napoli, has signed a three-year deal with the German champions.

He will provide back-up to Germany international Manuel Neuer at the Allianz Arena.

Reina, who will turn 32 at the end of August, was a regular at Liverpool for eight seasons before Brendan Rodgers signed Belgium's Simon Mignolet from Sunderland last summer.

Rodgers has Brad Jones as cover and sanctioned Reina's temporary move to Napoli last season.

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed Reina’s keenness to join the Bundesliga side earlier in the week.

Rummenigge said: "He was eager to come to Bayern Munich. He wanted to embark on this adventure even though he knows that, in Manuel Neuer,

he has a keeper in front of him who, if nothing changes, will always remain the number one."

Transfer news: Bayern Munich sign goalkeeper Pepe Reina from Liverpool



Bayern Munich have agreed a deal to sign goalkeeper Pepe Reina from Liverpool.

The Spain international, who spent last season on loan at Napoli, will join the German champions as back-up for number-one keeper Manuel Neuer if he passes a medical.

A statement on the Bayern website confirmed terms have been agreed with both Reina and Liverpool.

And chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "The player will come to Munich in the next few days for a medical examination and to sign his contract.

"He was eager to come to Bayern Munich. He wanted to embark on this adventure even though he knows that, in Manuel Neuer,

he has a keeper in front of him who, if nothing changes, will always remain the number one."

Bayern are poised to sign Pepe Reina from Liverpool, FCB chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed on Tuesday lunchtime (local time) in Portland.
“The player is scheduled to come to Munich for a medical in the next few days and sign his contract,” Rummenigge stated.
The 31-year-old Spain goalkeeper is currently contracted to Liverpool.
Terms have been agreed with both the player and his current club. “Michael Reschke has told me this is the case,” Rummenigge said.
“Pepe Reina really wanted to join Bayern Munich. He was prepared to undertake this adventure, although he knows he has Manuel Neuer ahead of him,
a first-choice keeper who will, provided nothing untoward happens, remain number one.
”Should Neuer be unfit to play, Reina and Tom Starke would both be ready to step in.
The position of third keeper at Bayern is currently vacant after Lukas Raeder left the club at the end of last season.
“Our goal was to be prepared for every eventuality in this particular position,” Rummenigge explained, “we've now settled the situation regarding goalkeepers.
We'll go into next season with these three.”
