West Ham: Sam Allardyce to leave Hammers after four years West Ham have announced manager Sam Allardyce is to leave the Hammers after four years at the Premier League club. The 60-year-old oversaw the Hammers' promotion from the Championship in 2012 and subsequent top-flight survival. But the former Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United boss was never universally popular with the east London side's supporters.West Ham say they have a shortlist of possible replacements, and will make "significant transfer funds" available. In a statement, joint chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold said: "We would like to start by thanking Sam Allardyce for his valuable work since arriving at the Boleyn Ground four years ago.
"He leaves the club in a considerably better state then when he arrived and, for that, the board are truly grateful."
Sullivan and Gold want a new manager to oversee the club's final season at their current home before a move to the Olympic Stadium for the 2016-17 campaign.
The statement was released just minutes after West Ham lost their final Premier League game of the season 2-0 at Newcastle - a result which ensured their opponents avoided relegation and meant the Hammers finished 12th.
Allardyce told BBC Sport: "I take great pride in what I have achieved. The team, the club is in a hugely more successful position than when I took over.
"Everything I was asked to do I've delivered. It's probably the right time for us both to move on, I really enjoyed the ride."
