Steven Nzonzi to sign for Sevilla after Stoke City reluctantly accept £7 million bid

Sevilla's opening offer of £3 million was rejected last month but they have returned with a £7 million bid that meets Stoke's valuation



Steven Nzonzi will sign for Sevilla in the next 48 hours after Stoke City reluctantly accepted a £7 million bid.
Nzonzi is expected to travel to Spain on Wednesday to join the double Europa League winners, following an improved offer earlier this week.
The French midfielder had told Stoke he had no plans to sign a new deal and indicated to manager Mark Hughes last week that he wanted to quit the Potters this summer.
Sevilla’s opening offer of £3 million was rejected last month but they have returned with a bid that meets Stoke’s valuation and the move should go through in the next few days.
A £3 million signing from Blackburn in 2012, Nzonzi had 12 months remaining on his current deal.
Nzonzi’s departure will undoubtedly damage Hughes’ pre-season preparations, with Stoke due to fly out for the Barclays Asia Trophy in Singapore today.
Stoke are also expected to sell Asmir Begovic to Chelsea this month with talks ongoing over a potential £9 million deal.
Chelsea are to send a player out on loan to Stoke as part of the deal but it remains unclear at this stage who Jose Mourinho will release.

Sevilla have agreed a fee of around £7m for Stoke midfielder Steven Nzonzi, according to Sky sources.

Steven Nzonzi: Stoke City sell midfielder to Sevilla for £7m

Stoke City midfielder Steven Nzonzi has joined La Liga side Sevilla in a deal worth £7m.
Frenchman Nzonzi, 26, joined Stoke from Blackburn for £3m in 2012 and made 120 appearances for the club.
Potters boss Mark Hughes said the Spanish club and Europa League winners had reluctantly been granted permission to speak to Nzonzi.
A Stoke statement said:  "The club would like to place on record its thanks to Steven and offer him our best wishes."
Sevilla finished fifth in La Liga last season before defeating Dnipro in the Europa League final in May.
Nzonzi had a transfer request rejected by the Potters two years ago, and Hughes did not want to sell him this summer.
"We worked really hard to persuade him his future lay here but it didn't seem to be enough for him," added Hughes.
Potters goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea,  in their squad for a pre-season tournament in Singapore next week.
