Roma make new contacts with Leicester for Mahrez: the updates

Riyad Mahrez has agreed to a move to Roma, however there is still distance between the offer to Leicester City for the winger and what the Premier League club is asking.
On Saturday in conversations between Monchi and Leicester, the Roma sporting director gave indications of the club's strong desire to bring Mahrez.
Roma's offer for the 26 year old is for 30 million pounds plus bonuses, while the asking price remains above that at 40 million pounds (a price that has dropped down from 50 million.)
Constraining negotiations is the fact that Leicester wants to hold on to Mahrez.
But countering that is the will of the player: between Mahrez and Roma an agreement on wages has already been reached.
However, Roma still must continue to negotiate with Leicester in order to close the deal.

ROMA STILL WANT MAHREZ

Riyad Mahrez is still Roma's top transfer target this summer, according to the Leicester Mercury.

Leicester have rejected a £20m bid from Roma for Mahrez and, according to the Mercury, a second offer of around £30m could be on the way.

It is reported that the Foxes value Mahrez at £50m but do not want to sell.

Roma remain interested in Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez, but the obstacle is the price.

The Foxes' valuation is £40m, but the Serie A club have so far offered half that amount.

During the introductory press conference for Hector Moreno, Monchi stated that Roma had made a second offer for Riyad Mahrez and that now he was working on new targets.
In fact Roma raised their bid to ?35 million including bonuses, but so far Leicester aren't budging in their demand for ?40 million from clubs abroad (?50 million for Premier League teams).
In the meantime the Algerian striker wasn't selected for the friendly against Milton Keynes Dons.
Roma consider their last bid to be fair market value and don't intend to raise it- while the giallorossi haven't set an ultimatum, Monchi is exploring his options.

While Roma haven't given up on signing Riyad Mahrez they are considering options.
Monchi hasn't been able to bridge the gap between the offer and Leicester's demands, and while he's still hopeful it's a tough deal to complete- at the moment Real Madrid's Lucas Vazquez is the main alternative.

Craig Shakespeare has reaffirmed Riyad Mahrez wants to play for a top-six side but says Leicester are yet to receive any bids from England’s biggest clubs.
Arsenal are interested and may make a move as Monaco continue to resist attempts to sign Thomas Lemar, while Chelsea are also monitoring the situation.
Despite issuing a statement of his intent to leave at the start of the summer, Mahrez has been Leicester’s best player in pre-season and was a creative presence for an hour of the 2-1 friendly defeat at Burton Albion.
Shakespeare said the Algerian still wants a transfer away and though Roma have seen two bids rejected, the second worth £32million, the former PFA Player of the Year would prefer to stay in the Premier League.
‘He wants to play for a top-six club,’ said the Leicester manager. ‘If we don’t get an offer from a top-six club, he stays.
If that offer comes in and it’s not enough, he stays. It is quite clear for me at the moment, he has made that statement but he is our player.
‘I picked him for 60 minutes, he performed. Is it doing my head in? It’s part and parcel of the transfer window. If you let it, it can affect you. But my job is to make sure the players are focused on every training session and every game.’
