Juventus have identified Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny as a possible replacement for Gigi Buffon who will hang his boots in 12 months.

According to a report of Sky Sport (via ilbianconero), the Old Lady are close to landing the Poland International.

The Champions League finalists have offered Szczesny a four-year, ? 4 million-a-year deal and are ready to offer Arsenal ? 16 million to sign the 27-year-old goalkeeper.

The Gunners are open to sell their goalkeeper for some cash and the offer of the Old Lady could be enough to land the talented goalkeeper who has spent the last two seasons in Italy.

​Szczesny played for AS Roma from summer 2015 until the end of the current campaign but AS Roma have failed to make the player’s loan move permanent twice.

​Arsenal are yet not considering Szczesny starting material and Napoli are also believed to be interested in signing him.

The offer of the Old Lady, however, means she is now in pole position for the Arsenal goalkeeper.

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny set to join Juventus

Sky Sports News HQ understands Juventus have agreed a deal in principle to sign Wojciech Szczesny for ?16m (around £14m) from Arsenal.

The Italian champions have reached agreement with the Poland international over a four-year contract worth £3.5m per season.

Szczesny has impressed the domestic double-winners during a two-season spell on loan at rivals Roma, who finished runners-up to Juventus in Serie A this season.

However, the 27-year-old is likely to spend his first season as understudy to Gianluigi Buffon, 39, who is set to retire after the final year of his current contract in Turin.

Szczesny joined Arsenal's academy from Legia Warsaw in 2006 and made a total of 181 appearances for the Gunners' first team.

The 27-year-old signed a long-term deal in November 2013 to keep him at the Emirates until 2018.

Hopes of a treble for Juventus and Buffon's first Champions League triumph were wrecked by Real Madrid, 4-1 in Cardiff, on Saturday night.

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta spoke to the Italian press about the Wojciech Szczesny situation, here is what he had to say on the matter:
" We are in talks as we are working hard on the Szczesny front but nothing is done yet".
The Polish international remains to be Juve's top priority for their goalkeeping position as they are still in pole position for him.

Inter Milan are another team that are said to be interested in the ex-Roma keeper but they first need to determine Handanovic's future. Another thing that might influence talks between Arsenal and Juventus is the Donnarumma situation. Juventus might have interest in him and knowing that he won't renew his deal with AC Milan, Beppe Marotta could try and make Milan an offer for him. Even so, as of now Szczesny is the likeliest option for Juve....

The Polish international appeared in 39 games overall with Roma this pas season as he was solid.
