Watford are in talks with Derby County over an £8m deal for England Under-21 midfielder Will Hughes.

Discussions between the clubs are now at an advanced stage as new Hornets manager Marco Silva shapes his squad for next season.

The 22-year-old is currently away on international duty with England's Under-21 squad at the European Championships in Poland.

He is likely to complete his move once England return from the tournament.

Hughes has made 165 Championship appearances for the Rams and was linked with a move to Liverpool in 2013.

Sky Sports News HQ understands some elements of the deal between Watford and Derby for midfielder Will Hughes have been agreed.

We understand personal terms are unlikely to prove a problem but, at this stage, the final transfer figure and payment schedules are still to be agreed.

WATFORD AGREE HUGHES FEE

Sky sources understand Watford have agreed a deal with Derby for Will Hughes.

It is understood the fee is an initial £4.5m rising to £7m.

The paperwork is due to be completed today and Hughes will join subject to a medical. Personal terms have been agreed in principle.

The midfielder is currently with England U21s in Poland.
