Tony Pulis will have crunch talks with West Bromwich Albion on Monday, with the Premier League strugglers set to part company with the beleaguered head coach..

Pulis is meeting with Albion chairman John Williams and it appears increasingly likely that the 59-year-old will be leaving the Hawthorns, possibly by mutual consent, six weeks before his third anniversary in charge.

Williams and Chinese owner Guochuan Lai discussed their next move on Sunday, after the 4-0 defeat to Chelsea, and it now seems certain that Pulis will become the fifth managerial casualty of the season in the top-flight.

Albion have won just twice in 21 league games, in a torrid run stretching back to last season, but recent performances and the poisonous atmosphere created by supporters are forcing the board into reluctantly taking action.

Pulis endured fierce chants for his dismissal for much of Saturday’s game and appeared resigned to his fate after this drubbing against the champions. It is understood talks are already underway over the terms of his departure.

Michael O’Neill, the Northern Ireland manager, has been linked as a possible successor but sources at the Hawthorns have dismissed any suggestion of him taking charge.

The lack of credible alternatives is thought to be a major factor for Albion’s board, with Sam Allardyce unlikely to be interested. Ronald Koeman, sacked by Everton last month, could also be out of reach.

West Brom are set to appoint former Newcastle and Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew as their manager on Wednesday.

The Baggies sacked Tony Pulis on 20 November after going 10 Premier League games without a victory and sitting a point above the relegation zone.

Pardew, who has been out of the game since being sacked by Palace in December 2016, is expected to sign a deal until 2020.

The 56-year-old will become Albion's sixth permanent manager since 2011.

West Brom let slip a two-goal lead on Tuesday as they drew 2-2 at home to Newcastle, but moved up to 16th place in the table ahead of Everton.

Pardew, a former team-mate of West Brom technical director Nick Hammond, will take charge of his first game against former club Palace at The Hawthorns on Saturday, 2 December (15:00 GMT).

Albion then face trips to Liverpool and Swansea before a home fixture against Manchester United.

Pardew, who has also had spells at Reading, West Ham, Charlton and Southampton in an 18-year managerial career, has been a losing FA Cup finalist twice as a manager.

He was named LMA Manager of the Year in 2012 after he guided Newcastle to fifth place in the Premier League.

Former West Brom boss Gary Megson has taken temporary charge since Pulis' departure.

"I will meet the chairman at 10:00 tomorrow, what about? I don't know," Megson said following the draw against Newcastle.

"Something has to be done at some point. I was just told in the interim period to take the team. What I've done the last eight or nine days is what I've done for the last 20 years, so I have enjoyed all that.

"I haven't applied for manager jobs in the last three years but whatever happens now, if ones do come up I will apply."

Gary Megson is in caretaker charge again of Albion’s home game with Newcastle.

No announcement is scheduled before the game but Pardew is expected to be confirmed on Wednesday.

Albion want Tony Pulis’ successor in place for the visit of fellow strugglers Palace on Saturday, who sacked Pardew 11 months ago.

Pardew has not worked since but held positive talks last week with the Hawthorns hierarchy.

Alan Pardew has confirmed he has held talks with West Brom about replacing Tony Pulis at The Hawthorns.

Pulis was sacked last Monday after his side's 4-0 defeat to Chelsea and Pardew had emerged as an early favourite for the vacancy.

The former Newcastle and Crystal Palace boss has a strong relationship with West Brom technical director Nick Hammond since the two men worked together during their time at Reading and Pardew told the Super Sunday panel that talks with the club had taken place.

"I've had discussions with them. Obviously it is an attractive job so we'll see where it goes," Pardew said.

"It is a club that has a really good set of players and I think it is a good opportunity for a manager and if it is me then it is me.

"They've got good quality in there and maybe they should be doing slightly better than they are. I think looking at them and the depth of the squad it definitely has improvement in there so hopefully that's what they'll do."

West Brom have held talks with Alan Pardew as they close in on the appointment of a new manager.

The 56-year-old is favourite to replace Tony Pulis, who was sacked on Monday after two victories in 21 games.

Former Crystal Palace manager Pardew, a former team-mate of West Brom technical director Nick Hammond, is understood to have met Baggies chief executive John Williams late last week.

It is understood a decision on Pulis' successor is yet to be made.

Former West Ham boss Slaven Bilic rejected the chance to speak to West Brom about the role.

Gary Megson will take charge for Saturday's Premier League game at Tottenham (15:00 GMT).

Pardew has been out of the game since being sacked by Palace in December 2016.

He has previously managed in the Premier League at West Ham, Charlton and Newcastle.
