Liverpool have told supporters the Merseyside derby is planned to go ahead amidst concerns over poor weather conditions.

The city is predicted to be met with heavy snow over the next 48 hours, with the Met Office issuing an amber weather warnings of snow, sub-zero temperatures and gale force winds on Sunday.

Starting at 6am on Sunday, Liverpool is predicted to be in the centre of a blizzard for at least three hours.

The snow is meant to then eventually subside at about 9am but will continue to fall across the area until around midday.

The anticipated conditions have led to worries over a potential postponement, but the club have moved to ease fears.

In a statement, LFC have reminded supporters to be careful around the stadium.

It reads: ¡§Due to the inclement weather forecast on Sunday, Liverpool FC would like to remind supporters to take extra care when travelling to Anfield and encourage fans to plan their journey in advance.

¡§Supporters are encouraged to arrive at the stadium early and check the Merseytravel and Merseyrail websites for any updates before they travel.

¡§Sunday's game against Everton is planned to go ahead. Any further updates will be issued on www.liverpoolfc.com.¡¨
