Chelsea have stepped up their bid to sign Ross Barkley in January and have asked about Andy Carroll from West Ham.

The Stamford Bridge club saw a move for the 24-year-old Barkley fall through in August after he opted to continue his recovery from a hamstring tear at Everton.

However, Chelsea have maintained their interest and are ready to push through a move as soon as Thursday night after Barkley returned to training.

Carroll has had an injury-hit time at West Ham but scored two vital goals for West Ham against West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants cover for Alvaro Morata.

Other proposed targets are proving difficult to land and initial talks have taken place with Carroll's entourage.

Barkley is out of contract in the summer but Chelsea are willing to offer a fee now, believed to be around £15million.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce had hoped to convince Barkley to stay but is resigned to seeing the academy graduate move on.

'I think that we are resigned and the club was resigned before I got here that we're going to lose Ross and I can't see that changing,' said Allardyce.

'I expect there would be some interest some time in this window if there's going to be any interest from one of the big boys.

'He's back in training full-time. When he comes back the touch won't be quite as good as it used to be and the match fitness won't be quite as good as it used to be.'

Carroll, 28, cost West Ham £15million from Liverpool in 2013 and has scored 32 goals in 123 games.

巴克利轉會費太低驚動市長報警　有傳經理人收七百萬以達成交易


去年夏天車路士曾報價三千五百萬鎊收購巴克利(Ross Barkley)，不過球員在轉會窗最後一分鐘拒絕轉會。今個月巴克利終於成功轉會車路士，未來將會身穿8號球衣，但今次轉會卻比半年前便宜了二千萬鎊，最終交易金額只得一千五百萬鎊。這單交易甚至驚動利物浦市長報警調查此事，另外亦有傳車路士為達成今次交易而向巴克利的經理人繳付七百萬鎊的報酬，讓事件更耐人尋味。

根據英國The Time的消息所指，車路士在巴克利的交易中額外向巴克利的經理人繳付七百萬鎊的報酬，差不多是這單交易總金額一千五百萬鎊的一半。而在2015年FIFA已經限制經理人只可以收取交易總金額不多於3%的中介費，不過這限制亦有灰色地帶，就是第三方人士可以與球隊簽下任何交易協議而不受上述條款限制。

利物浦市長安達臣(Joe Anderson)早前在社交網站已經表明自己將會去信足總和英超，希望有關方面可以調查巴克利交易是否違規，同時希望警方會介入調查。安達臣得知The Time的消息後再次在社交網站指這是一個有力的證據支持自己去調查事件。

車路士達成交易後曾經表示能夠以較便宜的價錢買入巴克利是因為他今季受傷患困擾，至今未能為愛華頓上陣比賽，所以身價有所下跌。巴克利上季為愛華頓在英超上陣36場比賽，攻入5球8助攻，不過今季受腿後肌腱傷患困擾，半季未為愛華頓上陣比賽。

Spurs were ready to match Chelsea fee and wages - both relatively modest - for Barkley this window, but Pochettino said no. Summer interest but something changed. Barkley may have chosen Chelsea anyway of course.

Chelsea Football Club has today completed the signing of Ross Barkley from Everton.

The 24-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract and will wear the number 8 shirt.

Upon signing for the Premier League champions, Barkley said: ‘I'm overwhelmed, I'm looking forward to it and I'm really excited to get started.

‘To be given a fresh start at a new club like Chelsea, it's unbelievable for me. I'm looking forward to continuing where I left off at the end of last season and hoping to improve and add more goals to my game.’
