Michy Batshuayi joins Valencia on season-long loan from Chelsea after successful spell with DortmundThe Belgian striker, who went out on loan to Dortmund last year, will join the La Liga club for the season
Michy Batshuayi has joined Valencia on loan from Chelsea. The Belgian striker, who went out on loan to Dortmund last year, will link up with the La Liga club for the season. The deal doesn't include an option to buy. Chelsea splashed out £33million to sign the striker from Marseille back in 2016, but he's endured a stop-start career at Stamford Bridge.
Last year the 24-year-old striker linked up with Bundesliga giants Dortmund, as a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who joined Arsenal in a deal worth £56million.
Batshuayi was a revelation in Germany, scoring five goals in his first three matches.
The Belgian had hoped that on his return to Chelsea - who recently parted company with Antonio Conte for Maurizio Sarri - following the World Cup he would be given a chance to shine.
But despite the misfiring Blues lacking up front, with Alvaro Morata failing to impress in pre-season, Chelsea have parted company with Batshuayi for another campaign.
The fact the Stamford Bridge club have not included an option for Valencia to buy the player at the end of the summer suggests they still feel he can eventually offer Chelsea something.
Unlike the Blues, who will be in the Europa League this year, Batshuayi will get the chance to play in the Champions League with Valencia this season.
