Marko Arnautovic has been left out of West Ham's squad for Saturday's Premier League match against Bournemouth.

The 29-year-old Austria forward has been the subject of a £35m bid from a club in China, and his brother has said he wants to leave.

West Ham, who are not commenting on Arnautovic's omission, have previously stated the player is not for sale.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini said on Thursday that Arnautovic could leave if it was "a good deal for both parties".

But he added: "If I say the player must stay, the player will stay. They are not forcing me to sell Marko Arnautovic."

Arnautovic, who has scored seven Premier League goals this season, started West Ham's win over Arsenal on Saturday but waved to the home crowd when he was substituted with 20 minutes to go.

He moved to London Stadium from Stoke in 2017 for a then club record £20m after handing in a transfer request at the Potters. He is under contract with the Hammers until 2022.

West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic has signed a contract extension with the Premier League club.

Arnautovic, 29, had been the subject of a £35m bid from a Chinese club offering wages of around £200,000 a week.

He was said to have wanted the move but on Friday the Austrian international "put a stop" to speculation by committing himself to the Hammers.

West Ham announced the deal less than an hour after being knocked out of the FA Cup by AFC Wimbledon.

Arnautovic did not play in the 4-2 defeat away to the League One side.

"I want to say to the fans that I'm happy to stay," said the striker in a statement released by West Ham. "I'm glad to play again, show myself and score goals, to make assists, but also to say that the major point is Marko Arnautovic never refused [to play or train]. I would never refuse."

He added: "The fans gave me the power, they gave me the energy and that's why I have to be here and that's why I want to stay. I never wanted to run away because I hate this club, this was never my intention."

The club did not reveal the length of the contract extension.

Marko Arnautovic is expected stay at West Ham after his suitors from the Chinese Super League failed to meet the Premier League club's valuation of the striker.

West Ham were never keen to sell the Austrian forward but a transfer appeared likely as he waved goodbye to the club's supporters when he was substituted during last weekend's victory over Arsenal.

However, with Guangzhou Evergrande and Shanghai SIPG having failed to meet West Ham's £50m asking price, the 29-year-old looks set to remain in London.

With the Chinese transfer window remaining open until the end of February, the situation could still change but the difference in valuation is significant.




There is a 100 per cent transfer tax applied to deals for overseas players being signed in China, meaning any club wanting to sign him would effectively have to pay double the transfer fee.


Meanwhile, each Chinese Super Club team is only allowed to have four foreign players in their squad.

Arnautovic has scored seven goals in 16 Premier League appearances for West Ham this season, but was left out of the squad for Saturday's defeat at Bournemouth.

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini had previously insisted he would have the final say over Arnautovic's future.

However, Sky sources understand the club remain interested in Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez irrespective of Arnautovic's future.

Talks have been held between representatives of both clubs, but the La Liga club are reluctant to let him go this month as they are fighting against relegation.

It is thought they would demand more money this month compared to a sale in the summer.
