Manchester United have stood down from the European Club Association (ECA) and club executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has stepped down from his UEFA roles.

Source close to #mufc players: "The boys aren’t happy. They feel exposed by the club, uninformed, and as though the club didn’t bother to fill them in or consult the players over career-influencing changes."

Slight confusion (from me) over Ed Woodward's departure. Was due to go at the end of the year and still is. The decision to announce he is going has been brought forward. Remains in post for rest of 2021. Staff told. What a day.

Ed Woodward will be remembered as the common denominator in eight years of largely failure post-Ferguson. #mufc have spent £941.4m on Woodward's watch and have ended five of the last seven seasons trophyless.

Manchester United has confirmed that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will step down from his role at the end of 2021. 🚨

“I am extremely proud to have served United. The club is well positioned for the future and it will be difficult to walk away at the end of the year”.

With Woodward going, the ideal choice to replace him is Edwin van der Sar. Experienced football figure, eminently qualified (did a masters degree in sports and brand management), chief exec at a great European club, appreciates paying fans, played for #mufc and objective.
